Objectives

EU’s food and farming system has become increasingly industrialised with greater chemical input, the proliferation of factory farming and the increasing consolidation by larger and fewer corporations. Previous reforms of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy have ignored the position and opinion of consumers as well as sustainable and small-scale food producers and retailers. Millions of people want a different Europe with a more sustainable and small-scale farmer-friendly system. We invite people from across Europe to raise their voices and participate in the European Days of Action Good Food Good Farming so that decision-makers can no longer ignore the support for peasant farmers, environment- and climate-friendly agriculture which is tied into local economies across global food chains.

Main Activities

After a diverse and empowering mobilisation in 2018 and 2019, Good Food Good Farming calls for a third wave of campaigning activities in 2020. Join the us with an online or physical event between 1 and 31 October 2020 and join our photo campaign on social media.

With the reform of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), we have a real chance to stir it up. We need to convince national governments in the European Council, the European Parliament and the Commission to create the change we want to see in our food systems. We want a policy, which supports small farmers and rural livelihoods, protects our soil, water, ecosystems and biodiversity, does not contribute to climate change or animal suffering and provides healthy food for all.

Pan-European Good Food Good Farming Days of Action were organized in 22 countries in October 2019. A range of powerful actions and events celebrated the Good Food Good Farming alternatives! Thousands of people joined 100 events in capital cities, towns and villages across Europe: demonstrations, protest picnics, eat-ins, feasts, farm visits, workshops and seminars, conferences, and others. On 22 October, we protested in Strasbourg and handed over an open letter to the newly elected Members of the European Parliament.
