Certain initiatives do not easily fit into one or even several types of initiatives. By virtue of their broad nature or forming a cohesive whole, breaking them up into smaller initiatives only serves to weaken their effectiveness.
Pierre Calame, President of the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for Human Progress, has opened a discussion on conditions for rebuilding Europe based on 18 reform initiatives. They are geared around a Europe that redefines governance, democracy and citizenship, a Europe that builds its economy anew and a Europe that recreates its place on the world stage. This text also serves as a “portal”, since it is founded on initiatives of a group of European civil society organisations.
Mr Calame explains how the group reached their conclusions in an introductory text called “What kind of Europe does the world need?”, available in English, French, Spanish, German and Polish.
