[Online] Measuring the social impact of Sport
24 September at 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
In the frame of the European Week of Sport, which will take place from the 23rd to 30th September 2021, we organise a conference dedicated to the measure of the social impact of sport. Join us next September 24th in Lisbon or online !
The social role of sport, a recognized intuition
Sport is recognized by the United Nations in its 2030 Agenda as an “important catalyst” for the achievement of 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals. If this international recognition strengthens a widely shared idea, it seems urgent to provide sport actors with measuring and evaluation tools, allowing a quantitative, but also qualitative analysis of the social impact of the various devices.
Measuring the impact of sport events, a catalyst for a global approach
During major sporting events, such as the London 2012 Olympic Games or UEFA Euro 2016, a measure of the economic impact was carried out on the host territories. However, too few studies have, until now, focused on the social and sustainable impact of these events.
Objectives of the conference:
◻ Reporting on the need to measure the real impact of the different sports programs;
◻ Assessing the relevance of the political choices made by providing tangible evidence of the effectiveness of sport in driving and accompanying social change;
◻ Initiating an European reflection on the effectiveness and social usefulness of sporting events;
◻ Encouraging the creation of a dynamic European network.Lisbon, Portugal Sport and Citizenship - Sport et Citoyenneté email@example.com DD/MM/YYYY 15
