The Confederation of Consumers and Users -CECU- is a pluralistic and independent democratic consumers organization. Its mission is to promote and coordinate the movement of consumers and users at national and international levels, strengthening their activity and industrial action and sharing experiences. Being interlocutor of consumers and users of the whole Spanish State before the different administrations. Promote and protect the legitimate rights of consumers and users.

Objectives

• Promote and coordinate the movement of consumers and users of all the autonomous communities of the Spanish state of the European Union, Latin America and the rest of the world, strengthening its activity and claming action, and exchange of experiences.

• Be interlocutor of consumers and users of the whole Spanish State in the different administrations.

• To represent its members before public institutions and private entities, of Spain, European Union, Latin America and other geographical areas.

• Promote collaboration and cooperation with countries and impoverished and / or developing communities.

• Exercise your activity from democratic criteria, acting with complete independence from public, economic and social powers, with the natural respect for legitimate personal choices of all associated with it.

• Promote and protect the rights of consumers and users to information and education on consumption and other concurrent policies.

• To promote and protect the right to health and safety of consumers and users.

• Promote and protect the legitimate economic and social interests of consumers and users.

• To promote and exercise, on behalf of consumers and users, the right of representation and participation in accordance with the law.

• To represent its members and perform the corresponding actions in all kinds of administrative, judicial and extrajudicial procedures in defense thereof, the Confederation itself and the general interests of consumers and users with such powers allocated to them under the rules legal enforcement.

Main Activities

• Answer inquiries and complaints from consumers and end users of products and services. • Promote and participate, directly and / or through their Confederate organizations in the Consumer Arbitration System. • Promote and conduct training activities aimed both consumers and users and producers, handlers, processing industry, retailers, and waste management, all in order to achieve a more transparent and protective market. • Representation of consumers and users in all public bodies for consultation and participation, either regional level (provided when there is not a Confederate organization) nationally and internationally, where matters of interest to consumers and users are discussed. • Organize and participate in seminars, conferences, symposia, conferences and any other events whether national or international, where they discuss and expose issues related to the world of consumption and related policies. • Undertake and / or participate in studies and research, and any other works related to the world of consumption and related policies and edit, publish and disseminate such work or participate in its co-publishing. • Edit and publish magazines, guides, brochures and any other information or materials directed at consumers and users. • Participate in any forums, tips, platforms, Foundations, etc. whose objectives are consistent with the line CECU and so is approved by the governing bodies. • Any other activities that benefit the defense of basic rights of consumers and users.

To do this, CECU is networked with other civic organizations from different fields: health, rural, environment, media rights, corporate social responsibility, consumer, etc.

Finance and Main Partners

The income of CECU come from contributions from its member entities, subsidies for public authorities with responsibility for consumption and signing agreements and contracts to provide services to other entities.

CECU partner institutions are autonomous and local consumer organizations of the Spanish state
