Peasant Seeds is a network of about sixty organizations, all involved in initiatives for the promotion and defense of crop biodiversity and associated knowledge.
In addition to the coordination and consolidation of local initiatives, the Peasant Seeds Network works to promote collective management methods and protection of farmers ’seeds, and the scientific and legal recognition of farmers’ practices of production and exchange of seeds and seedlings.

Objectives

-Development and networking of initiatives promoting biodiversity in farms and gardens,
-Raising of public awareness on issues related to production and distribution of seeds,
-Lobbying for recognition by the regulations, institutions and research laboratories of farmer seeds

Main Activities

-Actions of collection, preservation, selection, multiplication, developement through transformation and dissemination of seeds of wheat, corn, vegetables, forage crops, fruit trees, medicinal and aromatic plants.
-Activities of technical networking;
-Develop regulatory proposals;
-Actions of participatory research;
-Editing and communications operations;
-Networking at European level.
