Main Activities

INEX FILM

After some years of failure to get space, Expedition INEX FILM bypassed the insoluble problem of negotiation and instead of fostering hope in the system and bureaucracy they took things (shovels) into their own hands. Endlessly waiting on reports and information about which abandoned properties in the city are available, whether or not and how they can be given a use, a group of people in need of space decided to enter the building INEX FILM, formerly owned by a Yugoslavian film production company, that failed together with its former homeland.

The action started in April 2011 when a group of people, gathered quite randomly, started visiting INEX FILM on the regularly basis and held meetings in the building without doors, floors, furniture, windows … With two weeks of cleaning and two weeks of program per month, INEX FILM slowly but surely began to transform into a public space that through the production of a cultural programme contributes to the city life.

In parallel with beginning to clean and repair the building, the concept of INEX FILM was developed, constructing and editing its community and the program it offered, solving existential problems at the same time as practical ones such as the implementation of electricity and water. In INEX FILM, which now celebrates its fourth birthday, there are several art studios, a dance studio, infoshop and a contemporary circus. INEX FILM frequently host concerts, shows, exhibitions, parties…
