Otro Tiempo, a Spanish association which was set up in 2009 in Madrid, Spain, to structure the human rights work developed before by the founding members. From the outset, the activity of the Association focuses on equality between women and men. Otro Tiempo is well known because of its awareness-raising efforts (digital art campaigns), online training courses and its presence in social networks and its enviromental project "Otro Tiempo Otro Planeta". It consists in establishing a local collecting system of used cooking oil, creating jobs for women victims of gender violence or at risk of social exclusion.
Our objective is to generate employment for women victims of gender violence or at risk of social exclusion in order to empower them economically and enhance their capacity to make choices.
Otro Tiempo has detected the need to improve the assistance given to women victims of gender violence by fostering socio-labour insertion and opportunities to rebuild a new life.
We are working on three main areas. First, training courses and awareness campaign to promote gender equality. Second, empower women by fostering socio-labour insertion. Third, develop an advocacy work in order to be active at the political level and be active in diferent networks focused on women rights and gender equality.
The creative team of Otro Tiempo has experience in developing lines of action that focus on raising awareness of gender-based violence and gender equality.
Otro Tiempo is currently receiving public funds to develop its activities. Our long term financial strategy is to create financial surplus generated by our social enterprise “Otro Planeta” that will be reinvested in the association Otro Tiempo’s social and environmental activities aimed to empower women victims of gender based violence and promote gender equality.
