Across Hungary, Védegylet/Protect the Future supports local communities taking a stand against policies and developments that endanger the environment, social and cultural heritage and which disregard our communities’ rights to participate in democratic processes. Grounded on the principles of participation, self-organization, solidarity, the acceptance of ecological constraints and the goal of social justice, eco-politics is making a difference where traditional civil activity and party has not. Protect the Future believe eco-politics works for people, the environment and the future generations. From sustainable farming to protecting public goods and services, from research to policy alternatives, from protest to lobbying, the organization is determined to create a democracy where the widest participation is valued and environmental and social sustainability are guiding principles. Protect the Future prepared a law to set up the office of the Ombudsman for Future Generations, which became a reality after a ten-year-long lobby. Another World is possible for all of us!
