Applications for the 2022 Humanity in Action Fellowships are still open! Learn more about the exciting and challenging Fellowship opportunities starting in summer 2022:
All live Fellowships, whether in-person or online, are followed by an individual Action Project implementation and monthly 2-hour training sessions throughout the fall and winter.
The Humanity in Action Fellowship brings together international groups of university students and recent graduates to explore compelling, current issues of democracy, pluralism, human rights, and social justice within the specific historical and cultural contexts of each of the program offices. Intensive and demanding, the programs are an educational space for international dialogue, reflection, and informed action. The Action Projects that Fellows implement in the second phase of their Fellowship experience promote democratic values and social justice in their own communities.
We invite applications from eligible students and recent graduates who are passionate about advancing human rights, social justice, and civic engagement. Fellows come from many different backgrounds – academia, the arts, activism – but share common values. Humanity in Action Fellows are collaborative, passionate and empathic people, willing to examine and challenge their personal preconceptions and biases.

The Humanity in Action journey begins with a year-long Fellowship involving two phases of participation: The intense live programs and the implementation of an individual Action Project within the remaining months of the Fellowship. The Action Project phase is not designed to be a full-time commitment, however, we offer mandatory monthly training sessions to build skills and community essential for developing and implementing a small civic project in your own community.
Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact – in whatever format they find meaningful. After their year of study and action, Fellows are invited to join the Humanity in Action Senior Fellow Network, which is at the heart of the Humanity in Action community.
Applicants must submit an online application by February 13, 2022. Finalists will be invited to group interviews by early March.
