What do you want to achieve with this project?

It’s time to stand up for democracy and officially apply to become a Citizens’ Juror here!

Starting in 2023, every year, a different city will be designated as the European Capital of Democracy by 10,000 European citizens.

You can be part of this Citizens’ Jury and play a hands-on role in strengthening Europe’s democratic future!

Through our Europe-wide community of 10,000 democracy defenders, you can make your voice heard, promote your cause, and select the very first European Capital of Democracy

As a juror, you will be able to:

o   Add the role as professional experience on your CV

o   Give your feedback and opinions on burning issues

o   Join information sessions, training & workshops

And, with a bit of luck, you might win tickets to join the opening of the year-long Programme featuring democratic best practice, activities and events for participants and visitors from all over Europe.

Do you need help to put your idea into practice?

Yes, we would be very grateful if Citizens for Europe can help us reach 10,000 engaged citizens in the 46 member states of the Council of Europe to select the very first European Capital of Democracy, exchange and collaborate across borders.

What are the details of the project?

Democracy is our safest bet to protect our planet, restore peace, and secure a safe and prosperous future for us and our children. Become a Citizen Juror now and play a crucial role in strengthening and securing Europe’s democratic future.

With the creation of a Citizens’ Jury of 10,000 Europeans, this project aims to encourage civic and democratic participation, and foster open and inclusive societies. The main objectives of the Citizens’ Jury is to select the annual European Capital of Democracy (ECoD) and involve citizens in a Europe-wide political discussion and open exchange process on democracy.
